Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH 4-10), studied in research into BDNF expression and neuropeptide-signalling pathways in experimental models.
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide based on a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH 4-10) extended with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro tail. Its sequence is Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro, molecular formula C37H51N9O10S and molecular weight 813.9 g/mol. It is supplied as a lyophilised powder for laboratory research only.
Developed from Russian neuropeptide research, Semax is one of a family of short ACTH-derived peptides. Kovalabs supplies it strictly as a reference compound for in-vitro and pre-clinical investigation. The alias "SEM" is sometimes used for it. It is not a medicine and is not intended for human or veterinary use.
Semax is not a controlled drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, so possession of the research material itself is not an offence. It holds no UK marketing authorisation as a medicine and is not approved for human or veterinary use. Kovalabs supplies Semax for laboratory research only; it cannot be sold or used for human consumption, and the buyer is responsible for compliant handling. See our research disclaimer for full terms.
Every batch of Semax is released only after independent identity and purity testing. Purity is assessed at 99% by HPLC and identity is confirmed against the expected mass for C37H51N9O10S. The verified identifiers are CAS 80714-61-0 and PubChem CID 9811102, matching the Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro sequence. Batch certificates of analysis are available from our CoA library so each vial can be traced to its test data.
The published literature investigates Semax in relation to BDNF-related signalling and neuropeptide pathways in cell and animal models. This is the area researchers explore; none of it establishes a benefit, cognitive effect, neuroprotective outcome or any result in humans, and Semax is not a licensed medicine. For the mechanistic detail and a structured review of the study designs, see the Semax research monograph.
Semax is supplied as a white to off-white lyophilised solid. For bench work it is typically reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, which Kovalabs also stocks. Store the lyophilised powder at -20C, dry and protected from light, and hold reconstituted material at 2-8C. Browse the full neuropeptides category or compare related research peptides such as Selank and DSIP. For laboratory research use only; not for human or veterinary use.

No third-party batch reports have been uploaded for this product yet. Reports are issued by independent labs after each manufacturing batch.
