What are neuropeptides?
Neuropeptides are short chains of amino acids that act as signalling molecules in the nervous system, where they modulate communication between cells. They are a large and well-defined biological class: textbook examples include substance P, oxytocin, vasopressin, neuropeptide Y and the endorphins.
