GHRP-2 is a synthetic growth-hormone-releasing hexapeptide studied in research into ghrelin and GHS-receptor signalling within GH-axis models.
GHRP-2 is a synthetic hexapeptide and an agonist of the growth-hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a), the ghrelin receptor. Its sequence is D-Ala-D-2-Nal-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2, with molecular formula C45H55N9O6, molecular weight 818.0 g/mol and CAS number 158861-67-7. Kovalabs supplies it as a research reference compound, lyophilised, for laboratory use only.
The amide-capped C-terminus and the three non-standard residues (D-alanine, D-2-naphthylalanine and D-phenylalanine) are characteristic of its identity and distinguish it from the natural ghrelin sequence, which is a 28-residue acylated peptide. GHRP-2 sits in the GH-axis research category as a reference material, not as a medicine or supplement.
GHRP-2 is not a controlled drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and is not scheduled. It is supplied in the UK strictly as a research chemical for laboratory use only. It is not a licensed medicine, holds no marketing authorisation, and cannot be sold or supplied for human or veterinary consumption. The buyer is responsible for lawful, compliant handling under their own jurisdiction. See our research disclaimer.
Each batch is released after independent testing. Purity is assessed by HPLC at 99% or greater, and identity is confirmed against the expected mass for C45H55N9O6 (CAS 158861-67-7, PubChem CID 6918245). A batch-specific Certificate of Analysis accompanies the material; current documents are published on our CoA page. This verification is what separates a characterised reference compound from unverified material, which is why "is all GHRP-2 the same" has a clear answer: only a CoA-backed batch is.
The published literature investigates GHRP-2 as a tool compound for probing GHS-R1a binding and signalling and the wider ghrelin / growth-hormone secretagogue pathway in in-vitro and pre-clinical model systems, including structure-activity work across the peptidic secretagogue series. People searching for GHRP-2 benefits or effects should note that none of this establishes any benefit, effect or outcome in humans; it is not a licensed medicine and no human or veterinary application is intended or implied.
These are distinct molecules studied at the same receptor. GHRP-2 and GHRP-6 are both synthetic hexapeptides characterised as GHS-R agonists, differing in sequence; ipamorelin is a pentapeptide described in the literature as a more selective GHS-R agonist. All three are separate from the growth-hormone-releasing-hormone analogues CJC-1295 (no DAC) and sermorelin, which act at a different receptor. This is an identity and pharmacology comparison only, not a protocol or any guidance for use in a body.
GHRP-2 is supplied as a white to off-white lyophilised solid for reconstitution at the bench with a research solvent such as bacteriostatic water. Store lyophilised material at -20C, dry and protected from light; hold reconstituted material at 2-8C. Sold per vial as a product specification, despatched from the UK. For laboratory research use only; not for human or veterinary use.
Specifications for this product have not been published yet. Get in touch if you need the full data sheet for laboratory use.
No third-party batch reports have been uploaded for this product yet. Reports are issued by independent labs after each manufacturing batch.
Store unreconstituted vials at -20°C for long-term, or refrigerated at 2-8°C for short-term use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water down the inside wall of the vial; gently swirl to dissolve. Do not shake.
Once reconstituted, refrigerate at 2-8°C and use within 2-4 weeks. Discard if cloudy, discoloured, or particulate.
